Insolation is a measure of solar radiation energy incident on a surface. It is the amount of solar energy received on a given area over time measured in kilowatt-hours per square meter (kW•h/m<sup>2</sup>). A related term, irradiance (see Solar radiation), is the amount of solar power received on a given area measured in kilowatts per square meter (kW/m<sup>2</sup>).[1]
